It has been mentioned a couple of times that Chicago drew a lot of attention in 2002. And while that has been especially thanks to two labels, it doesn't end there. As with The Lyric District a not to those labels belonging act steps forward, while they still have the Nacrobats logo at the back of their record. So they definitely belong. And their sound definitely nestles well into the bigger picture that Chicago paints, the Lyric District got their own voice. Well actually a couple of voices, as the District is set out on the map with six cornerstones.
That also gives the songs many different views, while the necessary grounds are definitely covered and part of their district. That includes the arena for some sportive bouts, like on "Spontaneous Combustion" and "Attack Of The Superheads", the mirror hall, where the cats can stand in front of 'em and look at themselves when congratulating themselves, like on "Discombobulated". You however also find the chaotic bookstore where esoteric knowledge is stored. And as these cats purchase the literature and can't keep the wisdom to themselves, they stand at the speakers corner to recite "After School". And the old man in front of the groceries store always tries to chat to you, because everything is "Reminiscent Of The Past".

And on the way from one area to the next, there's the Interludes who come along. With them also being part of the overall sounds of the city. "Melodica" and "Attack Of The Superheads" can be heard while walking past the jazz club, while you slowly stroll in the pace of "Reminiscent Of The Past". "Modest Morlocks" is a construction site, while the guitar on "Flex Capacitated" gives you the sound of a brain intoxicated after one gulp too much at the bar. The science fiction sounds of "Nocturnal Sleepwalkers" are coming from the video games arcade and the rush of "...got lyrics?!" is without a doubt also part of any big city.
And as in the case of any district, you'll be able to quickly find your favorite place. With this one here offering more than just industrial areas, more than just the commercial square, more than just the lawns of the parks or the smells of delis or the patches for the kids to play between the apartment buildings. And translated to this album, then it means that it offers a lot while it never steers too much into one area to give it that special distinctive feel. That gives it little profile to stand out and more a face that blends well with the crowd. So as much we enjoy hanging out in the Lyric District, it's not that the one to the north, or to the west does not host some tempting attractions too. So we'll settle down here for a little while, but eventually we'll also move on.
