Sub Contents are Persevere
(he released stuff with an on Stones Throw) and Dave
Dub. And due to them being down with Heratik Productions,
Fanatik does their beats. And Fanatik was the guy that
provided the musical backdrops for Planet Asia on his
self titled EP. So, considering how Asia blows up now,
and considering that he blew up on the strength of an
artful collaboration with Fanatik, he's getting more
and more praise by the moment. Or by the song, cause
this 12" gives you different vibes and different sides
to one person that he is.
|
|
On "Tables
Turn" he constantly changes the drums, always
after two 'eight counts', what ridicules all the producers
that suffer to even change up their drums once on a
whole album. Guitars are dominant on "True
To Life", while the Emcees proclaim to be
true to theirs, rhyming "since my childhood days, I've
been my favorite Emcee". On the 'j'-side the vibe changes
to a dramatic and somewhat hard composition, the Emcees
giving the generation of "The
90's" what it wants, with cynical violent
rhymes ricocheting over strings and a horns enhance
chorus.

Stepping out of the
comforting heaven of Celestial Records, Supernatural
teams up with Englands Joe Buhdha to drop a three
track 12" on Exceptional records. And as a little
extra bonus, DJ Noize drops by to lend his golden touch
in form of razor sharp scratching to inspired tracks.
Manifesting and testifying his deep, deep love for hip
hop, Supernatural dedicates "Another
Lovesong" to his preferred style of
music. Shouting out Switzerland on the way, he rhymes
"I fight for hip hop / for hip hop I would die
/ if hip hop wasnt here, I think I would cry".
|
|
Things completely switch
up on the hard "Warchant",
where Supernatural remembers good old battling. Self
reflecting, humming beats lay the playground for this
Freestyle Maestros verbal artistry.

While everybody talks
about Supernaturals exceptional freestyling skills,
he now has to prove that he can rhyme nicely, even when
hes reciting written rhymes. After the "Buddha
Blessed It" 12", one knows that one can expect
unusual rhymes, and that Nat also likes to rhyme
over strange beats. So hes defenitely on the right
label, and has the right producer in Hive. "Armageddon
At Your Door" is just a lyrical bashing
of everybody less skilled than Supernat. While some,
as he says: "Supernat you they wont love
you, they dont understand your style", a
lot of us do.
|
|
And he gives everybody
"Seven Minutes Of Understanding".
A slow track, with a whistling, piano shattering track
by Daddy Kev. Well, there is no doubt that Supernatural
is skilled, but other emcees can write rhymes like this.
So it will still be his freestyling ability that he
will be remembered by. But being the best at it, thats
not that bad at all.
